What is your artistic passion & how did you first discover your love for it?
Hi, I'm Vaishali, I am an illustrator and my partner Nayan is a Furniture and Interior designer, we make hand painted miniature paper cut artworks and accessories.
Paper art was our childhood love. We both use to make a lot of paper craft as a child. We did our higher studies in Art & Design. We both started our career together as miniature model makers.
After working in the industry for some time we started our Studio (NV illustration) two years back on 25th Dec 2015. Our first artworks in paper cut were miniature paper jewelry and display pieces. Than we started making more detailed dioramas and layered artworks in paper.
We kept exploring different possibilities in paper since then and have always tried to challenge ourselves with more detailed and miniature art.
NV Illustration is the brainchild of Myself and Nayan, now we are full time Paper cut Artists.
What is one take-away you'd love viewers to gather after experiencing your work?
Through our art we want to share the beauty and significance of Nature with the people. Hope that people also understands the significance of Nature in their lives and help to save our beautiful world.
What would 'success' look like to you with this passion of yours?
What we really want is to become successful enough so we can dedicate our art and life to conserve NATURE and it's creations.
What are 3 words you'd use to describe your unique art style?
Miniature, Nature and Paper
How do you know when a piece is ‘done’?
The process very organized we can say, so it starts with a sketch on a paper. After that different layers are traced from the sketch on 200 GSM water color paper. Then each layer is precisely hand-cut and then they are ready for coloring. Each tiny layer is hand painted with water colors with utmost precision. Finally all the layers are assembled together to get a 3 dimensional look.
Woo-hoo the artwork is ready to go :D

I'd love to hear a little about the studio / space you've created to work in and how that impacts your process & final product.
Our work space has evolved with us, when we started our studio it was my personal room and than slowly and gradually we made it into a fully functional studio. We still work from the same place as we can't afford a studio yet ;) . But now it's quiet and organized with all the tools and inspiration we need to work.
Helping others on their own journey
What has been your biggest struggle to getting where you want to be creatively and how did you overcome it?
Our biggest struggle was how to get an audience for our art and make a living from it.
The major thing was marketing and we are still trying hard for it.
Do you have any advice / tips for someone looking to dive deeper and pursue their own creative passion?
Only one thing we want say it keep working hard and do not loose hope, because passion does pay but it takes continuous time and effort.
Craving more paper cuts?!
(don’t worry, ME TOO!)
